Two medal-decorated talents meet at EVW 27 in a super heavyweight match with the top of the division in their sights.
Daniyar Roman and Gabor Dukat will meet in the super heavyweight division at EVW 27 in Budapest, and the match puts two of the sport’s most promising young pullers across the table from each other, each with the credentials and the hunger to build a career at the very top of the weight class.
Roman arrives with momentum
Roman comes into Budapest after a 2-1 victory over Gregorii Liashchuk at EVW 25, a result that has rung the danger bell for a lot of super heavyweight contenders. Liashchuk is an experienced armwrestler, and beating a veteran of that standing shows the level Roman has already reached. His resume backs it up, since he is a multiple-time WAF youth gold medalist and a senior silver and bronze medalist, which means his success has carried over from the youth ranks into the senior division.
Dukat brings an equally strong repertoire
The man waiting for him in Budapest has just as much to offer. Dukat is a WAF gold and bronze medalist with an extremely strong hook and toproll, and his ability to blast through opponents is extraordinary. Reaching that level at such a young age is something only a few armwrestlers ever manage, and it explains why this match is being treated as a genuine collision of equals.
Dukat’s supermatch debut against a legend
Dukat’s first professional supermatch ended in a 4-0 loss to Dave “Easy Money” Chaffee at KOTT 13. Chaffee is a veteran whose raw, relentless power has caused trouble for the most elite pullers the sport has ever seen, Todd Hutchings, Ivan Matyushenko and Ibragim Sagov have all faced that strength across the table. Losing to a legend of that caliber takes nothing away from the raw strength Dukat brings to the table.
How might it play out?
Daniyar’s side pressure in a hook is insane but his ability to set a hook is not among the best in his category while on the other hand Gabor also struggles to toproll elite hookers.
However Gabor’s ability to blast through his opponent in a hook is commendable. Even if Gabor manages to take Daniyar’s cupping the latter’s ability to pull without his wrist makes him one of the rare breed of Armwrestlers who can pull with and without their wrist intact as long as they’ve a healthy purchase to their pronation.
So it doesn’t matter whether Gabor can toproll Daniyar or not, it’s going to be a hard battle for both.
As a Hungarian, Dukat will have the crowd behind him in Budapest, which is a real advantage for a young puller stepping onto a big stage. Roman, however, can take that atmosphere as fuel, and defeating Dukat in front of his home fans would make the victory even more significant for a man already making noise in the division.
